The Best Connection is Proud to Attend the REC and DWP Round Table Event!

As proud Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) members, colleagues at The Best Connection work closely with the industry’s professional organisation to promote the activities of responsible recruiters. So, when invites were sent out for a Round Table event in Birmingham, Senior Manager Peter Christie was delighted to participate.
The event, organized by the REC and the DWP, brought together the Minister for Employment Jo Churchill MP with notable industry experts, REC and DWP executives and other influential figures in the recruitment sector.
The event was held at the Summer Hill Job Centre in the heart of Birmingham and included insightful discussions on crucial topics, including Skills and Training, joint experiences in the public and private sectors, and predictions for the 2024 Labor Market. Peter, responsible for overseeing The Best Connection's Birmingham branch, as well as Redditch and Worcester, found the day particularly interesting.
Speaking after the event, he reflected:
“The recruitment industry contributed over £40 billion to the UK GDP last year, making our industry’s contribution larger than many other professional services, including Legal Services and Accountancy.
Providing jobs for people can change their lives, that is why it is so important that as industry we work together across private and public sectors to maximise opportunities and maintain consistently high standards.”
The discussions highlighted the great initiatives that are in place, whilst also focusing on the areas that require attention. Even though most of the attendees agreed that there was plenty of work left to do, it looks as if 2024 has kicked off with a very promising start.
