The Best Connection - A Beacon of Success for Birmingham

Birmingham’s The Best Connection employment group, is one of the UK’s top 250 mid-market private companies - and that’s official*.  With its roots firmly established in Tyseley, where it was launched sixteen years ago, the business, which is still privately owned, continues to be a beacon of success for Birmingham entrepreneurship.  It has also established itself as a respected national organisation in all its market sectors and has no plans to change course.

Since opening its first branch in Tyseley in 1991, the company, which supplies temporary and permanent labour to the industrial, HGV and warehouse & distribution sectors, has grown from a staff of four to a national network of 63 branches with almost 600 permanent employees.  Last year the business achieved a turnover in excess of £172 million in 2007.

Commenting on the company’s performance in 2007, chief executive, Andrew Sweeney, said: “We are very proud of our Birmingham heritage and putting the city on the map in our business sectors.  Last year was another great success with positive growth and market share gains.  The accolades we have received position The Best Connection Group as the UK’s leading driving business and a top four leader in the industrial sector."

In the UK transport sector, the company continued to demonstrate its dominance in 2007 by extending its market share from 10% to 34% in a sector that grew by 10%.  The company continues to be managed by its founder directors, Andrew Sweeney, Neil Yorke, Martin Recci and Michael Cooper, all of whom originate from the Midlands area.
