Debenhams Turns to The Best Connection to Deliver the Goods

Positive signs of retail trading were seen at Debenhams store in Southampton at the end of 2008 where additional staff were sourced through employment group, The Best Connection, to help cope with a busy seasonal period.

Extra support was required to fulfil the hundreds of orders placed through Debenhams’ online perfume service - ‘Debs to you’ - which is co-ordinated across six UK locations and traditional in-store sales.  In total, nineteen packers were recruited to cover additional duties and to assist with completing all Christmas sales requirements.

Shah Mannan, branch manager, The Best Connection, Southampton, said: “The retail sector is very important to our business so we were delighted when Debenhams asked us for help with sales fulfilment.   In addition, The Best Connection was also asked to provide additional warehouse staff and a number of painters to help decorate areas of the store.”

The Best Connection has been supplying temporary staff to Debenhams Southampton for the past six months.  Consultants, Chris Gordon and Aurene Nathanson have been responsible for undertaking the day to day management of Debenhams’ requirements.

Colin Waterman, sales support, Debenhams, Southampton, was delighted with the level of service the business received throughout the festive period: “The Best Connection was able to provide excellent staff to help us maintain our service levels and they made sure everyone received their Christmas deliveries in good time.”

The Best Connection, which specialises in the driving, industrial and warehousing & distribution sectors, provides temporary labour for many national and international businesses.
