Our client, a well-known luxury department store based in Knightsbridge, is urgently seeking a Water Systems Engeering Manager on a permanent basis.
The role will involve 50% water systems related work, and 50% other maintenance related duties.

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager – Water Systems to support the Lead Engineering Manager in overseeing the performance, compliance, and resilience of the client's water systems infrastructure. You’ll ensure the seamless operation of water treatment plants, cooling towers, and hot/cold distribution systems.
This is a pivotal role that blends technical oversight with strategic planning, ensuring the systems support a high-performance environment that is always ready to trade.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations of water treatment and distribution systems.
- Monitor system performance to drive efficiency and resilience.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations (e.g. Water Supply Regulations 2016).
- Develop and manage preventative maintenance and emergency response procedures.
- Lead and manage specialist contracts for water treatment services.
- Prepare regulatory documentation and oversee inspections/audits.
- Support infrastructure upgrades aligned with sustainability and energy objectives.
- Collaborate with Facilities leadership to align engineering goals with wider business strategy.
- Act as Duty Manager within the Facilities & Engineering rota.
- Leadership & Team Development
- Provide strong leadership and mentorship to technical teams.
- Promote a culture of safety, engagement, and continuous development.
- Set clear objectives, provide performance coaching, and support team progression.
- Lead upskilling initiatives to maintain technical excellence across the department.
About You
- Qualifications: Mechanical qualifications (City & Guilds, NVQ3, HNC/HND) and L8 Responsible Person (Legionella).
- Experience: Proven experience managing water systems and engineering teams in complex facilities.
- Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership capabilities. Resilient, adaptable, and able to work flexibly when needed.
- Strong knowledge of British Standards and regulatory compliance in water systems.
Performance Goals
- 95% Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) completion within month
- 90% Reactive Task completion within month
- Drive measurable energy management reductions
