The Best Connection are currently recruiting for an FLT Counterbalance Operator (minimum of 2 years' experience) for one of our clients in the Chesterfield area.

As a FLT Operator you will be using a Forklift to unload goods from vehicles and moving them to their correct location. You will locate and pick pallets using a VNA in High Bay racking locations, these can be in excess of 10m in height. (Training given for the VNA) While operating machinery you will be conscious of health and safety procedure and adhere to these at all times.

Hours:

Continental shifts on a Rota (12-hour shifts on a rotation of Days and Nights) Shift Rota requires Bank holiday working all year round.

Primary duties and responsibilities include:

  • Operating Counterbalance Forklifts safely.
  • Safely stacking and removing large quantities of pallets into racking.
  • Moving pallets from storage areas to loading areas for transport.
  • Unloading deliveries and safely relocating the pallets to their designated storage areas.
  • Ensuring that equipment driving areas are free from spills or obstructions.
  • Ensuring the operator is following checking procedures for counterbalance forklift equipment for faults or damages and reporting where applicable.
  • Keeping up to date on health and safety requirements and counterbalance forklift operating procedures.

The operation requires the need to handle and operate the waste compactor. Full training would be provided.

Skills and qualifications:

  • Experience using counterbalance forklift truck
  • Accredited FLT licence from a recognised body. (Minimum 2 years' experience)
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts on a rotation of Days and Nights.
  • Operators will be required to partake in quarterly stock takes.
  • Ability to work well in a team with other members.
  • Knowledge of warehouse health and safety requirements.
  • Knowledge of warehouse storage procedures, such as the correct way to stack pallets.
  • Ability to use scanning equipment to record stock inventories movements and picking procedures.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Operators must report all damage if this occurs at any point.
  • Operators must have a high level of attention to detail.
  • Operators must be willing to work overtime if requested.
